Item Open Access Breaking the vicious cycle between migration and environmental degradation: The role of government(IGI Global, 2022) Gedikli, Ayfer; Taş, Nur Billur; Yalçın, Abdullah KutalmışFor many decades the world witnessed mass displacements. Migration can be either voluntary or forced depending on the reasons. Mass migration can be also due to climate changes that harden the living conditions. Since there is a bidirectional nexus between migration and environmental degradation, the dramatic increase of refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants greatly affect the environment and conservation efforts. Globally, the movement of people has caused different types of ecosystem changes including deforestation, water, and air pollution, as well as increased waste. Furthermore, as a two-edged sword for conservation, urbanization and growing population cause increasing per capita demand for energy, goods, and services. In this chapter, migration and sudden-onset and slow-onset hazards, the correlation between migration and environmental degradation, environmental and economic effects on the destination, as well as the role of government during migration processes will be analyzed.Item Open Access La littérature au service du monde des affaires - Sensibiliser à l’altérité et aux affaires par le monde littéraire(Universidad de Huelva, 2007) Kaya, Mümtaz; İnal, Tanju; Bonnet, D.; García, M. J. C.; Duchêne, N.Item Open Access Power, society and AVT in Turkey: an overview(Peter Lang, 2017) Okyayuz, Ayşe Şirin; Deckert, M.The article relates the findings of an ongoing research project that encompasses severa decades of AVT in Turkey. Drawing a matrix of relations and interactions between types of AVT (i.e. Subtitling, dubbing, remakes, adaptations) and practices (i.e. Censoring, choice of AV products) and the political as well as social realities and aspirations of certain periods, the aim is to provide a historical trajectory of AVT to exemplify the specific use of certain types of AVT in line with societal and politica aspirations and developments. Limited by the length of an article and the inability to provide AV material in printed format, the article provides an overview of the major eras of AVT and the politica and societal shifts that necessitated or brought about changes to the AVT scene in the decades studied.
