Abstract

The facilities that convert the water's height-dependent energy into electrical energy are called hydroelectric power plants, and hydroelectric power plants are one of the most important sources of energy production. Hydroelectric power plants have started to be established since late 19th century in the world and the beginning of the 20th century in Turkey. In this paper, the location characteristics of Kovada II, one of the hydroelectric power plants in Turkey, the material and physical structure of its installation, the employment it provides, the social life it creates and the institutional functioning in general are discussed.
