Motorlu taşıtların Türkiye'ye girişi, yaygınlaşması ve kullanımının artmış olması, araç trafiğini daha güvenli hale getirmek için sürücülerin araç kullanma yetkinliklerini gösteren sürücü ehliyeti gereksinimi oluşturmuştur. 1920'lerden 1987 yılına kadar bu gereksinim farklı yollarla karşılanmış, ancak 1987'de Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi tarafından onaylanan yasaya göre sürücü belgelerinin özel sürücü kursları tarafından verilmesine karar verilmiştir. Makalede sürücü kursları resmi olarak açılmadan önce, kursların yaygınlaşma süreci boyunca ve kurslar bir sektör haline geldikten sonra ehliyet alım sürecine ve sürecin denetimine dair bilgiler verilmektedir. As a result of the entry of motor vehicles to Turkey and proliferation of them in the country, there has been an increase in the number of people using motor vehicles. In order to make the traffic safer, "driver licence" was required, which demonstrates the competence of drivers to drive. From 1920s to 1987, this requirement has been met in different ways. However, according to the law approved by Turkey Grand National Assembly in 1987, it is decided that driving licences would be given by private driving schools. In the article, there are some detailed information about how the people in Turkey used to get their driving licence and how this process has been inspected in three different periods: before driving licence schools were officially founded, within the process of their proliferation and after they became a sector. Considering various newspapers and the data from TÜİK, the statistics of the number of accidents and the number of people having driving licence are included in the article.
