Abstract

Ankara’nın başkent olmasından sonra girilen kentselleşme dönemi, şehirde konut sıkıntısı oluşturmaya başladı. Beklenenin üstünde seyreden nüfus artışı, yeni bir şehirleşme planı ihtiyacını doğurdu. 1946 yılında Ankara Belediye Başkanı olarak göreve gelen Ragıp Tüzün, insanlara yaşayabilecekleri alan oluşturmak için Yenimahalle projesini hazırladı. Tüzün’ün evi olmayan kimselerin ev ihtiyacını karşılamak için oluşturduğu bu proje ancak Tüzün öldükten sonra tamamlanabildi. 1951 yılından sonra teslim edilen konutlarla Ankara’nın en büyük ilçesi haline gelen Yenimahalle, tek tip evleri ve mahalle kültürü ile Avrupa’yı andıran bir görünüme sahip oldu. Bu çalışmada Ankara’nın başkent oluşundan sonra uygulanan şehirleşme planları, Ragıp Tüzün’ün Yenimahalle’yi kuruş süreci ve Yenimahalle’nin günümüzdeki durumu anlatılmıştır.


The urbanization period that began after Ankara became capital started housing problems in the city. The population increase beyond expectations created the need for a new urbanization plan. Ragıp Tüzün, who became the mayor of Ankara in 1946, created the Yenimahalle project to construct new places for people to live. This project which Tüzün started for people who didn’t have homes could only be completed after his death. Yenimahalle, which became Ankara’s biggest district after houses were given to people after the year 1951, has a European scenery with its standardized houses and neighborhood culture. In this project, the urbanization plans after Ankara became the capital, the process during which Ragıp Tüzün began his Yenimahalle project and the present state of Yenimahalle were explained.
